Ladies and Gentlemen

Quickly searching on the internet I found a video, a program of some repute, with a political point of view and comments, be that as it may.  The well dressed hostess began by briskly walking out to center stage, clapping her hands once in sporty fashion, saying "Hey guys", and continued to speak.   My question and immediate reaction is what happened to addressing the audience as ladies and gentlemen?

Gay, neutral, heterosexual, unisexual  -  no matter, there is no excuse; we all break down to men and women.  There is no getting around it.   A woman walking out saying "Hi, guys" doesn't serve us well.  Not now  Not in this new millennium when we are reaching, searching, stretching, opening new ways, seeking new frontiers to set pace for the future.   However, there are limits.  Save "Hey guys" for the backyard get-togethers.    Give us the ambience of propriety and formality when addressing an audience in a publically broadcast presentation.

We are dragging humanity down fast enough without encouraging it, and we always have the obligation to teach the children by our actions.  Let us seek to build a kinder, better world.

In the second scene the hostess got into a helicopter.  When they were flying I noticed she still didn't have her seatbelt on.  I wouldn't want to sit next to her.  She'd probably spill her drink on me, and say coquettishly, "Oh, shit, I'm sorry."
